The Scrum Master is responsible for ensuring that the team adheres to Scrum methodology and practices. They are the facilitator for all Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, sprint retrospectives, and daily stand-ups. The Scrum Master also acts as a buffer between the team and stakeholders, protecting the team from outside distractions and disruptions. In addition, the Scrum Master is responsible for tracking sprint progress and velocity, and reporting this information to stakeholders.

Position Responsibilities And Expected Outcomes

  • Manage multiple agile teams
  • Develop Agile and Scrum prioritization, team readiness, and commitment for each Sprint
  • Use data to help the teams assess their Scrum Maturity
  • Optimize scrum team velocity to identify improvement opportunities to achieve higher levels of team performance
  • Oversee teams to deliver capabilities using Agile practices while following the Software Development Lifecycle, business process mapping, and various release processes to ensure all risk, security, and development requirements are met
  • Partner with managers to convey their concerns to teams about governance policies and adherence to corporate standards
  • Collaborate with product owners, program or project managers to communicate delivery of product and escalate key risks and issues impeding scrum team effectiveness
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
  • Interact with internal customers
  • Receive direction from leaders and exercise independent judgment while developing the knowledge to understand function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of Practical Agile experience or Practicing Scrum Master experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 2+ years of experience conducting project meetings, presentations and status reporting
  • 2+ years of JIRA experience
  • 1+ years of experience as a Scrum master or Kanban lead for agile teams developing on 3rd party software platforms, including managing vendor development resources within agile team

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with leading Kanban teams in addition to Scrum
  • Agile teams integrating Third Party software platforms
  • Legal, Compliance, or Risk agile team experience
  • Experience successfully collaborating with others in a change driven environment
  • Professional experience through internships, part-time or full-time work, and/or demonstrated leadership experience in academics or a community setting
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to solve complex technical problems
  • Strong, clear and concise written and oral communication skills
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) skills
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and
  • complex environment
  • Ability to learn from and interact with a diverse set of team members in a very fast paced and dynamic environment
  • A BS/BA degree or higher in science or technology
